FOUNDATION PHASE | Grade 1 – 3
The Foundation Phase focuses on creating strong academic foundations while nurturing a love of learning during the early years of formal schooling.

Students applying for Grade 1 are required to turn 7 during the academic year of enrolment to support age-appropriate development, school readiness, and future academic progression.
Reports & Parent Communication
Our reporting system includes a face-to-face settling-in verbal report during Term 1, followed by report cards in June and December.
INTERSEN PHASE | Grade 4 – 6
Students in Grade 4–7 follow the CAPS curriculum, which culminates in the IEB examination in Grade 12.

Grade 7 serves as an important transition year as students prepare for High School and increased academic responsibility.
Students are encouraged to think more independently, strengthen organisational skills, and further develop confidence in their academic abilities while remaining supported within a structured and respectful environment.

ADvLEARN, our AI-integrated Mathematics support platform designed to strengthen understanding, reinforce key concepts, and support personalised academic growth in Mathematics.
Reports and
Readiness Assessments
At Pinnacle College Raslouw, we believe in continuous assessments to track our students' progress and understanding. Throughout the year, students engage in our carefully structured Termly Test Cycles.
Our academic year is structured across four school terms, with three Academic Cycles throughout the year. Report cards are issued in April, August, and December.
Grade 6 and 7 students have examinations during Term 2 and 4, in addition to their termly cycle tests.
Foundation Phase Grades 0 – 3
- A progress report is issued at the end of the 2nd and 4th Term.
- These are supplemented by Parent Interviews at the end of the 1st Term and a Student Lead Conference during the 3rd Term.
Intermediate Phase | Grades 4 – 7
At the end of each of the Academic Cycle:
- Cycle 1 runs from early January to March and will include continuous assessments (CAS) and formal assessments like cycle test (formative).
- Cycle 2 runs from April to mid July and will include CAS and formative assessments.
- Cycle 3 runs from August to November and will include CAS and formative assessments, as well as an exam for the students.
- Parents Evenings are held after cycle 1, cycle 2, while a Student Lead Conferences will be held in the 3rd Term.
