Pre-Primary

GRADE 0

Our Pre-Primary caters for children in Grade 0 (5 to 6 years).

The Early Years Learning Centre provides students with an aesthetically pleasing, ergonomically designed environment rich in possibilities. Students are encouraged to explore, discover, and develop deeper understandings. Through intentional play, students learn how to interact with and contribute to the world around them.

Teachers take on the role of a facilitator and co-construct the learning experience with both the student and their parents/guardians. Through careful ongoing observations, the teacher designs and adapts learning, resources, and activities to support the student’s journey.

The outdoor learning environment at Pinnacle Raslouw is seen as having equal importance to that of the indoor learning environment. The aim is to not only develop the students' gross motor skills, but to assist them when learning how to collaborate with others and to communicate their thoughts and ideas in many different ways.

Assessments and Reports

We are a four-term school, but run our Academic Program to a three academic cycle.

At Pinnacle College Raslouw our aim is to observe and monitor student progress with our focus being on formative assessment types. This affords us the opportunity to provide any necessary support and scaffolding as we design the students personal learning journey.

Grade 0 Reporting

  • A progress report is issued twice a year - Mid-Year and End-of-Year.
  • The reporting and feedback process is further supplemented in the first term with Parent-Teacher interviews, and in the third term with a Student Led Conference.
